Adding Images and GIFs

In canvas mode, click the media control to add external visuals:

Images: Upload any PNG, JPG, or SVG. Use the interactive crop tool to focus on the key subject. Images are automatically compressed to ensure fast rendering.

GIFs: Upload animated GIFs within the file size limit to add memes, reactions, or moving product UI snippets.

The Image-to-ASCII Generator

Explayner features a unique Image-to-ASCII converter ideal for developer videos and retro aesthetic presentations:

  1. Select any ASCII element in the Edit panel and click Image to ASCII.
  2. Upload a high-contrast photo or logo.
  3. Select a character ramp (dense vs sparse characters) and target column count.
  4. Toggle Invert if working on a dark vs light background.
  5. Click Use this ASCII to convert the photo into editable, monospaced text characters.
